sigils

Sigils are the first magic that ever worked for me, so they get their own page. A sigil is a statement of intent squeezed down into a single symbol, charged, and then deliberately forgotten so your conscious mind stops getting in the way. On dark moons I make them for Lilith's kind of work: autonomy, boundaries, saying no.

How I make one

1. Write the intent as a short, present-tense sentence. "I speak my mind", not "I want to be braver".
2. Strip it down: remove the vowels, then remove any letter that repeats.
3. Combine the letters that are left into one shape. Overlap them, rotate them, simplify until it stops looking like writing.
4. Charge it. I stare at it by candlelight until my eyes blur, then burn or bury the paper.
5. Forget it. This is the hard part, and the part that matters.

Step 3 is where people get stuck. Drawing by hand is still my favourite, but some nights I don't have it in me, so I built a free generator that does the drawing part: sigilcreator.com. It has a few methods beyond letter elimination too, including the magic square (kamea) method and rune-based sigils.

Whatever you use, the charging and forgetting are still up to you. No website can do those parts.
